“It’s all I have to bring today –
This, and my heart beside –
This, and my heart, and all the fields –
And all the meadows wide –
Be sure you count – should I forget
Some one the sum could tell –
This, and my heart, and all the Bees
Which in the Clover dwell.”
-Emily Dickinson
On a glorious Sydney Saturday, as the sun was moving lazily across the cerulean sky, two beautiful people were wandering through the open fields of Centennial Park, arms wrapped around each other. The air was getting warmer and warmer, hinting that summer was approaching fast. The grass was a soft emerald carpet, and the heavy branches of Moreton Bay fig trees rested on the ground, creating little cozy nooks where you can throw your picnic rug and stretch in the cool shade of these century-old giants. Or maybe dance, to the melody you hum to each other, twirling and laughing.
And at sunset there was a picnic on one of the countless little beaches of Sydney Harbour, with the backdrop of the city across the sparkling waters, one of the most stunning skylines in the world. Boats were bobbling gently on the bay. A bottle of nice champagne was popped open, sending the cork flying high into the sky and then back on the fine sand.
What a fun and lovely way to spend a Saturday. To put on your favourite summer dress, pack champagne glasses and a basket full of delicious fruit and cheese, and head outside to enjoy everything this day and this city has to offer. And at twilight, you can light up the candles, wrap yourself and your sweetheart in a snug blanket, and cuddle while watching the sky turn indigo.
And you can invite me to come with you and bring my camera so I can capture your moments, your precious memories. Because every day is worth documenting. Because you will have a picture on your wall – a sweet token of your love – reminding you of the pure joy your heart was filled with on that beautiful day.
What a great idea to capture these tender couple moments. Since we have kids, we never take the time to do such things and obviously I am never on the photo since I am too busy taking them.
This is a brilliant Xmas gift idea.
